Offices named after female researchers and the color of the year in Astra Zeneca's new office

Astra Zeneca, a pharmaceutical company widely known for its research findings in recent years, has once again chosen MádiLáncos interior designers to develop its new office. The 2018 Office of the Year Award-winning Budapest headquarters has been further expanded this year, with the addition of 450 square meters of office space to the existing 700 square meters - the design team was responsible for efficiently connecting the two offices, updating the existing interior design and creating a new office space.

Employees of Astra Zeneca can now use three new meeting rooms in the new office, as well as several booths for phone calls or meetings, a more comfortable and larger kitchen and a project room for the preparation of large-scale paper documentation.

During the design process, special attention was paid to creating optimal working conditions because working in silence and concentration is essential for the company. In the open office area and the project room, the designers therefore used sound-absorbing acoustic panels and created a quiet zone in the new area.

Astra Zeneca’s brand book sets out a clear vision of how the company’s identity, logo and colors should be used, and the design team worked with this in mind to create the new office space and to connect the old and new parts. These brand colors are used to differentiate the meeting rooms. Interestingly, while in the first office space, which was opened in 2018, the meeting rooms were named after male scientists, this year’s development features the names of female scientists in the new office.

When designing the office, the different WELL concepts were crucial: all colleagues can work seated facing the glass-walled front, enjoying the natural light and sunlight. Balanced, focused work is supported by a system of acoustic panels, with designated points for making calls. The old and new office areas are symbolically linked by the kitchen, which is also used as a communal space, creating a natural transition and a new meeting point between old and new. The office was completed under CBRE project management in December 2023.
