Pick Arena - Szeged

The new Pick Szeged Arena building provides a worthy environment and home for the world-famous Pick Szeged handball team. The high-capacity event complex offers the city of Szeged and its wider environment a new and modern social space and experience.

The interior design concept was inspired by the world of handball and the spirit of the place. The image of the Pick Szeged handball team, the #blues, appears on the players’ jerseys. The blue color also symbolizes the Tisza, the elemental power and dynamism of water, and plays a dominant role in the elements of interior architecture and design.

Szeged’s main street is the Tisza, where fishing is inseparable from the city’s history. The pattern of the net is a recurring graphic motif in the interior of the arena, in addition to handball, it is also an allegory of fishing. Both identities are strongly linked to the city.

An abstract graphic created from handball’s pentagonal and hexagonal stitching pattern encircles the interior spaces. The mantle of the ball is made up of these geometric elements, and in the concept, this motif unites the outer arms of the stands as well.

The new building has a decisive role and function in the life of the association. It is the home of the handball team, the vision of the future for the young generation growing up at the academy, and the venue for the fans’ experiences. One of our goals is to make the interior design of the complex more personal and lovable with its inspiring spaces in addition to functionality.
