Hotel Nagykároly

  • Nagykároly, strada 1 Decembrie 1918
  • 1880 m 2 | 17 room

We were commissioned to renovate and redesign the interior of the most impressive monument in Carei, Transylvania. This was the Art Nouveau building of the Albina bank, which has been vacant for several years. As part of the renovation, we had to create a new boutique hotel function in the building, with a restaurant and a conference room. During the planning process, we had to consider the local regulations as the building is a listed monument.

We placed the reception on the ground floor, which is complemented by a library space that functions as a lounge. The restaurant, also located on the ground floor, opens onto the square in front of the building, inviting guests to sit outside on the terrace in the summer. On the first floor, next to the conference room, there is a lounge-lobby area catering for the conference attendees. Guest rooms are located on the first and second floor, a total of 17 units will be built. The interior design aims to match the building’s early art nouveau style, elegance and generosity, while at the same time it doesn’t allow for compromises in terms of comfort and modern hotel services.

Architectural plans were prepared by Földes Architects.
