The site is located in the area of the former Videoton, in Székesfehérvár. In the factory buildings, 400 operators change each shift, while in the office building part, 315 people work in administrative roles. On the site, there were many office areas scattered in places far from each other. The outdated design and crowding of the existing office made efficient work difficult, so the management of Hanon Systems decided that it was necessary to expand the office building and merge the administrative functions. MádiLáncos Studio was commissioned for the architectural and interior design, so that the expansion, exterior and
interior modernization of the office building could be realized based on a unified design concept. The area of the office’s existing one-story building with a hall structure was doubled. A row of open atriums was created at the junction of the existing and the new structure. The atriums bordered by glass walls provide natural light to the internal parts of the office, allow exciting views from one space to another, and provide an external relaxation area for the employees here. The entrance to the long, flat mass of buildings is highlighted by the tower-like, two-story closure.
The office is approached from the narrow front side, from the parking lot. From the representative reception area, we reach the offices through the work café. The main thoroughfare of the office runs in front of the conference line located along the adjoining production hall, separated from the office spaces, thus ensuring undisturbed work for the employees. At the end of the building, the 200-person restaurant-venue with its own atrium was created. The design of the interior was inspired by the industrial environment, which is refined by the color spots and wooden surfaces appearing on the carpet and walls. The broken lines used on the facade also appear in the interior on the lighting fixtures, in the distribution of carpets and in the wall painting. The floating false ceiling fields ensure the appropriate room acoustics of the hall. During the planning and implementation, it was a challenge to ensure the continuous operation of the office.
After the completion of the new part of the building and the relocation of the team, the renovation of the existing part could follow. It is clearly a positive change for the employees that they were able to move to bright and large spaces after the old, tall screened “cubicles”, where workbenches for 4-6 people ensure efficient, joint work. Instead of the former small and dark tea kitchen, an 80 square metres work café and a series of atriums transformed into internal gardens when the weather is nice await employees who want to refresh themselves. As a result of the cooperation between the client and the designer, a building was created that well reflects the importance of Hanon Systems in the automotive industry, the company’s values, and the innovative engineering attitude of its employees.
